826CHI is a non-profit dedicated to developing students’ (ages 6 to 18) creative and expository writing skills, as well as helping teachers inspire students to write.
Our services include one-on-one tutoring, after-school workshops, in-school tutoring, and collaborative programs to help student get published (like our Teen Writers Studio). We also offer help for English language learners.
While we work with and offer programs for students ranging from elementary school through high school seniors working towards college application essays, our Teen Writers Studio (TWS) enables 9th-12th graders aspiring writers and leaders to meet, write, and create collaboratively. Teens are divided into collaborative cohorts, and educational workshopping sessions are designed around writing and editing skills.
The cohorts cover everything from artistic writing to the professional writing industry to publishing, literary agency, and the career landscape for writer-adjacent employment. This is a great program for students looking to become writers, get published, polish their skills and enhance their writing chops ahead of college essays, or possibly pursue a future career in the literary space.
