Camp Quest West envisions a world in which children grow up exploring, thinking for themselves, connecting with their communities, and acting to make the most of life for themselves and others. We blend world-class science and interactive critical thinking activities with a traditional all-American outdoor camp experience. Its the scientific method paired with campfires and smores! We blend world-class science and critical thinking interactive activities with a traditional all-American outdoor camp experience. Two California Locations: Our Northern California session is in the California Sierra foothills near Nevada City and our Southern California session is at California Angeles National Forest near Wrightwood, CA. It’s the scientific method paired with campfires and s’mores. Along the way we build community, letting children know that the secular community has something special to offer the world, role models to emulate, and a Humanist philosophy of respect and empathy. Outdoor Fun with a Humanist Twist: Its archery, canoeing, campfires, star-gazing, swimming, mixed with team games, Humanism, science, skepticism, and critical thinking. Freethought Activities: What is Freethought? Broadly, it means cultivating curiosity, questioning and a certain disdain for just taking the word of authority; demanding evidence and knowing you can make your own observations even if they lead you to disagree. In terms of activities, these can run the gamut from science games to humanist life skills activities but always fun!
