Camp Walden is a close-knit community of girls, ages 8 – 15. Campers return each summer for friendship, challenge and fun and participate in traditional overnight camp activities including wilderness trips, horseback riding, tennis, sailing and water skiing. Find out more! Nestled in the pine-filled woods, Camp Walden occupies more than 150 acres of forest and grassy fields and over a half mile of beachfront property with docks for swimming, sailing, canoeing and water-skiing on Sand Pond. Peace Circle, home of our weekly campfires is also on the waterfront, adjacent to the boating area. Our fields support a variety of sports (softball, soccer, lacrosse, etc.), an archery range, 6 tennis courts (4 clay, 2 hard), a gymnastics pavilion and a sand pit volleyball court. We also have a climbing wall and an adventure challenge course with low and high ropes elements and a zip line. Our horseback riding facilities include two riding rings, pastures, and a barn, home to the 8 – 10 horses that spend the summer with us. Our creative arts facilities include our Arts & Crafts building, overlooking the lake, with studios for ceramics, jewelry and enameling, and drawing and painting, a dance practice room with mirrors and a ballet barre, and the Helen Herz Cohen (HHC) Playhouse for our musical theater program. Indoor events are held at the HHC or in the Ark, our second indoor program space. Camper cabins are located in a horseshoe around a pine-needled knoll called the Grove. They are situated close to the Main House and the Health Center. From the lower tier of the camper cabins the view of the lake and the cry of loons at night, provide authentic Maine memories.
