Our mission at Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters is to bring equity to low-income, underserved youth, of all beliefs, backgrounds and identities, by providing strong, enduring, and professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adult mentor volunteers that inspire youth potential. We believe every child is born with potential and with a mentor they achieve milestones and reach long-term success. Mentoring just doesnt benefit the child; it also enriches the life of the volunteer. Being special in a childs life, enjoying experiences together through a childs eye, offering a guiding hand and a caring ear will make a difference in the mentors life as well. Its easy. Anyone can volunteer, man or woman of any faith, background and age. Adult mentors, BIGS, are matched with LITTLES, at-risk youth, who meet one-to-one, from four to eight hours per month (at least two times per month) during the course of a minimum one-year period. Specific activities are determined by each mentoring pair and typically include: museums, movies, help with homework, Dodger games, sports, playing in the park, hiking, outings for ice cream, help with chores, etc. For more information and volunteer opportunities, visit our website.
