Clelian Heights is a licensed, private, non-profit, educational, residential and vocational facility for children and adults with developmental disabilities. It is owned and operated by the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a community of religious women working in education and human services. The Mission of Clelian Heights is to provide spiritual, educational, and vocational programs for children and adults with developmental challenges that enhance their quality of life and maximize their potential for independent living. ndependent of the traditional school year program, Clelian Heights operates this full-day Extended School Year (ESY) Program for four weeks during the summer. The ESY program focuses on combining a continuation of academic goals and objectives with summer social and recreational activities. The mix of community and school based activities during ESY allows for generalization of skills. ESY decreases the likelihood of regression in previously learned skills and behaviors, which many students exhibit after any prolonged interruption of structured programming. All therapy services continue during ESY. The ESY program is also an opportunity for students to interact with visiting high school and college students that volunteer during their summer break.
