Take part in a virtual learning experience like no other, where you will improve your skills, rethink your publishing strategies and take your media game to the next level.  The Columbia Scholastic Press Association invites print and online staffs to take part in its 39th annual Summer Journalism Workshop – offered this year exclusively as virtual experience. Each student will be required to register for one class sequence, focusing on writing and reporting, editorial leadership, design basics, or redesigning your newspaper. Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) is an international student press association, founded in 1925, whose goal is to unite student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through educational conferences, idea exchanges, textbooks, critiques and award programs. Teens and young adults have the opportunity to explore journalism through vitural learning during this summer. Admissions to the Summer Journalism Workshop is open to all students and advisers from senior high schools, whether public, private or parochial. No junior high or middle school students are accepted, but advisers from these schools are welcome. Students must be entering into sophomore, junior, or senior year in high school. Registration for this five-day intensive summer program is limited to 150 participants , with a waiting list to be maintained once the limit has been reached. Students must register for one of 5 sequences offered at the Summer Journalism Workshop. Last summer’s classes offered include: Boot Camp for Advisers, Newspaper Reporting & Writing, Editorial Leadership, Beginning/Intermediate Design, and Newspaper Redesign.
