Community boards are local representative bodies. There are 59 throughout the city. Each Board consists of up to 50 unsalaried members appointed by the Borough President with half nominated by City Council Members of the Board District. Board members are selected from among active, involved people of each community with an effort made to assure that every neighborhood is represented. Do you have extra time on your hands? Are you looking for a positive way to contribute to your community or give back to the City you love?  Check the website to view a comprehensive NYC Volunteer Guide.  We list many excellent organizations in and around New York City seeking volunteers. Details and contact information is provided for each organization in this handy guide created by Assemblymember Jim Brennan’s office.
