Jewish Federation Of Greater Philadelphia Mitzvah Food Program 2025

Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia are committed to creating a bright future for the Jewish People everywhere. We take care of vulnerable people who need help, engage informed and compassionate communities in repairing the world, and energize Jewish life and learning. The Mitzvah Food Program was piloted in 1996 to alleviate hunger and malnutrition among at-risk families in the Greater Philadelphia region. Our four pantries distribute nutritious food to all who are in need, regardless of race, income, gender, age or religion. Volunteers are needed to work shifts at four of our food pantries, as well as to pack and deliver food packages to low-income households across Greater Philadelphia. Pantry locations: During the High Holiday season, the Jewish Federation typically brings together dozens of local organizations to collect 60,000 pounds of food for Mitzvah Food Program clients. However, due to the challenges presented by COVID-19, the 2021 drive was modified to collect grocery store gift cards to provide better flexibility for the clients. It doesnt take a big commitment to make a big impact. The people we serve enjoy meeting with and talking to our volunteers.
