The University of Maine Junior Maine Guide program is a fantastic opportunity for advanced campers to refine their outdoor skills and build leadership! Our program is a field-based course designed to allow the natural leadership from within to be cultivated and grow within your group. Candidates will plan multi-day canoe and backpack trips, where their skills are applied through real outdoor challenges. Find out more! This program is incredibly selective and it is considered to be an extremely high achievement to be part of it. To join the camp, candidates must demonstrate excellence in canoeing, cooking, hiking, and many other areas of evaluation. Once they are accepted, they can expect a demanding training course that fully prepares them for a higher level. This program is considered a field-based course that prioritizes the formation of natural leadership and teamwork. Campers will be responsible for planning trips and applying their survival skills during outdoor challenges. They can expect to come out of the camp with new friendships, improved outdoor skills, and wonderful memories. Many even choose to return to Bryant Pond as counselors!
