
Two sessions will be offered for summer 2023. Session 1: Political Science – Race Relations (June 25 – July 8, 2023) Session 2: Political Science – Identity Politics (July 16 – July 29, 2023 Apply by our March 15, 2023 deadline for the best chance at being placed in your top choice program. The Race Relations program in session 1 (June 25 – July 8, 2023) will focus primarily Black-Latinx relations, while offering comparisons to their Asian and White counterparts. The course will ground political arguments around theories of threat, contact, and group positioning among others. At the end of the course, students will have a nuanced perspective on race-relations that is not easily explained by notions of complete solidarity or discrimination. The Identity Politics program in session 2 (July 16 – July 29, 2023) will focus on race, gender, class, and other aspects of our identities that intersect in unique ways to influence our political preferences. During this course, we will examine how these intersecting identities affect political behavior.
