Immerse yourself in hands-on learning at Summer Youth Programs (SYP)! Each summer, nearly 1000 students from around the world in grades 6-11 come to Michigan Technological University’s campus for week-long explorations of college and career opportunities in Engineering, Science & Technology, Computing, Business, Humanities, and Law! Since 1972, Summer Youth Programs has inspired the next generation of doers and makers through hands-on engagement and collaboration with Michigan Tech faculty, staff and students. During their time on campus, students live in our full-service residence hall, eat in the dining hall, and participate in an exploration of their choosing. Outside the classroom, students have time to relax and participate in many different supervised recreational activities , taking advantage of Lake Superior, waterfalls, hiking trails, and the natural beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. From college and career discovery to academic immersion, SYP is a fantastic, Michigan camp-like, mini-college experience that packs a ton of hands-on learning, experimenting, and fun into each day.
