Their contributions are highly valued and greatly appreciated by the Police Department and the community it serves. Law Enforcement Apprentice Program L.E.A.P. -Minimum age 16Successfully pass background check. -Ability to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per week or 6 months in the program. -Be a U.S. citizen or have a valid green card. -Interns typically work anytime Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. What special projects may I be involved with? -Ability to participate in training operations. -Assist police officers with alcohol enforcement efforts. -Assist police officers with underage cigarette/alcohol purchases. -Assist officers at special community events such as the County Fair and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. -Ride-along opportunities with police officers. What training opportunities are available? -Officer Safety -Patrol Procedures -Police Radio Communications -Traffic lawsReport writing including criminal and civil citations -SWAT -K-9 -Forensics -Narcotics -Community Policing
