Parsons offers summer courses for students in grades 3 through 12 that allow them the same access to world-class Parsons faculty as undergraduate art and design students. Summer Intensive Studies: New York Our three-credit art and design program immerses rising juniors and seniors, as well as recent high school graduates, in a New York college environment. All studio courses are geared toward developing and enhancing college application portfolios. Online Summer Intensive Studies Students ages 16 through 18 from around the world apply a hands-on approach to art and design with individualized instruction from Parsons’ renowned faculty. Summer Intensive Studies: Parsons Paris Parsons Paris is the ideal setting for heightening your awareness of global culture and creative careers. In this three-week, three-credit program, a close-knit community of learners experience European design practice and history firsthand. Parsons Summer Academy Designed for students in grades 3 through 12, Parsons’ Pre-College Academy meets for two consecutive weeks in August. Classes are organized by grade level for elementary, middle, and high school groups. The New School: Summer Filmmaking Intensive This program is not running in 2023. Students with The School of Media Studies learn filmmaking techniques and tools while immersing themselves in producing critically engaged movies. The online course is open to rising high school juniors and seniors, ages 16 and above. Summer Intensive Studies: NYC Tuition: $4,675 plus fees Summer 2023 on Parsons’ NYC Greenwich Village campus Full Day On-Campus Sessions (Mondays to Fridays 9:00 a.m. – 3:50 p.m. ET) Session 1- June 12, 2023 – June 30, 2023 Session 2 – July 10, 2023 – July 28, 2023 Registration Deadlines: Session 1 – May 15, 2023 Session 2 – June 8, 2023 University Credits: 3 Class Schedule: Students attend classes Monday-Friday from 9:00am – 3:50pm with a one hour lunch break. Location: Parsons’ Greenwich Village campus Housing: This summer program offers the option of on-campus housing. Following confirmation of your registration, an additional letter is sent by email with instructions on how to apply for housing. Access to on-campus student housing is in high demand and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Online Summer Intensive Studies Tuition: $4,350 plus fees The online program runs from July 17 through August 10, 2023, with 4.5 hours of creative programming each day, four days a week, Mondays-Thursdays. The combined synchronous/asynchronous online format program features core art and design courses, all for college credit, that focus on explorations of fine arts, design, design strategies, and portfolio development. Session Dates: July 17 – August 10, 2023 (Mondays – Thursdays) All online courses are delivered in a combined synchronous/asynchronous format and meet from 11a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET or 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET. Please check the corresponding course time range in your time zone. Age Requirement Our pre-college Online Summer Intensive Studies program is for students ages 16-18*. We require that students are 16 by the start date of the program. Students who will turn 16 during or after the program will not be permitted to participate in the program with no exceptions. We recommend students under age 16 explore our non-credit on-campus course offerings in our Parsons Summer Academy (Grades 312) program, which runs during the first two weeks of August at our Greenwich Village campus. * Students aged 18 with at least one full year of college enrollment may register for the New York Summer Intensive Studies (College & Adult) program, which will have three-week sessions in June and in July at our Greenwich Village Campus. Summer Intensive Studies: Parsons Paris Tuition and Fees: $9,500 (includes tuition, housing, and excursions) Schedule: July 1 – 22, 2023 Classes are held at Parsons Paris, located at 45 rue Saint-Roch in the first arrondissement, a short walk from the Louvre and Opéra Garnier. Many classes meet in locations throughout the city, ranging from art and design exhibition settings to architectural landmarks and parks. Coursework is complemented by excursions and day trips. Registration Parsons Paris partners with Academic Programs International (API), our preferred partner specializing in study abroad, to enroll you and provide on-site support services. The program is open to high school students entering their junior or senior year and to recent high school graduates. High school students are introduced to the college art and design experience through an immersive course of study. Applicants must be 16 to 18 years of age. Exceptions cannot be made. Note: All Summer Intensive Studies courses may be taken in order to develop a portfolio for the college admission process. Courses last six weeks. Most students take two courses per semester. The program must be completed in two years, but many students finish in two semesters. All Paris Summer Intensive Studies students earn three college credits upon successful completion of the course. Parsons Summer Academy You may register for one course from our website. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are accepted in the order in which they are received. Early application is strongly encouraged. Students will be charged a non-refundable university fee. Tuition Grades 3-5: $720 plus fees Grades 6-12: $1,440 plus fees Registration Deadline: July 24, 2023 Housing: This summer program does not offer the option of on-campus housing. The on-campus youth and pre-college program will run from July 31 through August 11, 2023, with three hours of creative programming for students in grades 3-5 and six hours of immersive art and design explorations for students in grades 6-12 each weekday, five days a week for two weeks. On-Campus Session Dates: July 31 – August 11, 2023 Grades 3-5: Half Day Sessions, 9:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. ET Grades 6-12: Full Day Sessions, 9:00 a.m. – 3:50 p.m. ET (with one-hour lunch break) The New School: Summer Filmmaking Intensive This program is not running in 2023. Students are expected to have access to a camera (a camcorder, video-capable still camera, or smartphone) and a personal computer. Full payment is required at the time of registration. The filmmaking intensive is subject to availability and space is limited; students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
