Molecular and Cellular Foundations – An introduction to the molecular and cellular processes of life. The course explores topics in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell structure and function, and transmission genetics in a variety of organisms. For 50 years, Skidmore College has offered motivated high school students a supportive, tight-knit Pre-College Program and classes in a range of liberal arts disciplines. In Skidmore’s nationally top-ranked program, high school students in grades 10-12 can choose from a wide variety of Summer Session online courses, as well as select in-person courses for local commuting students. Students earn college credit alongside current college students and work closely with faculty thanks to small class sizes. In the five-week online and day program options available for summer 2023, students take one class of their choice and participate in helpful virtual workshops and extracurricular events, including undergraduate admissions tips and tricks, campus tours, college student life skills, and more. They work with Skidmore undergraduate mentors, enjoy access to the College’s resources, and get a head start on college life by learning with other exceptional students. Along with their diverse backgrounds and experiences, all share a common interest in exploring the academic and social aspects of college life—discovering what it’s like to take courses with college professors and to make new friends from around the world. Do your interests range from psychology to English, economics to political science, sociology to geoscience? Choose a class in an area where your strengths lie or delve into an unexplored subject to challenge your perceptions and discover new fields of knowledge. Find out for yourself why Skidmore Pre-College students describe the program as challenging, fun, enlightening, life-changing, mind-altering, motivational, experimental, adventurous…to name just a few. Come join us in July and discover your future! Choose from a wide range of liberal arts courses, which in the past have included: Anthropology, Biology, Economics, Geosciences, History, Mathematics, Photography, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Writing. *Courses are subject to change. The cost for credit courses varies; please review the program website for course credit details. Scholarships are available. Program Dates: Wednesday, July 5 – Friday, August 4, 2023. Tuition Fees: 3-credit course: $2,910; 4-credit course: $3,880. *Early bird discount available for applications submitted by April 1 (cannot be combined with scholarship requests).
