Summer Pre College Intensives At Massart 2026

MassArts dynamic and robust summer programs are for creative artists who are curious and passionate about life and art. For students entering grades 10-12, the programs offer intensive experiences in art making and critical thinking. Students develop the practice and skills required to achieve excellence in their artistic endeavors and produce work for their portfolios. Students engage in the MassArt community, whether on campus or virtual, and experience MassArt before college. Summer Intensives in Art and Design: A two-week intensive program for students entering 10-12th grade Summer Intensives in Art and Design offers high school creative students the opportunity to develop technical skills and build studio practice. Studio choices are available in both fine art and design. Students also have an opportunity to develop work for their portfolio. The nature of the program is that of a rigorous art school, with students engaging in individual and group critiques. The program meets week days for nine days. Students have the option to attend a morning or afternoon studio only, or to attend two different studios during the morning and afternoon. Pre-College Summer Studios: A pre-college studio art program for students entering grades 11 & 12 MassArts dynamic and robust Pre-College Summer Studios program is for creative artists who are curious and passionate about life and art. For students entering grades 11-12, the program is a four-week intensive experience in art making and critical thinking. Students develop the practice and skills required to achieve excellence in their artistic endeavors and produce work for their portfolios. Pre-College students attend three core courses 2D Fundamentals, 3D Fundamentals, and Issues & Images to strengthen the foundational skills that students need if they are choosing to pursue higher education in the visual arts. Students also take one elective that begins the third week of the program and meets virtually for the remainder of the program. Working off-campus provides a unique opportunity for developing a personal artistic practice that includes time management and creative problem solving skills. The nature of the program is that of a rigorous art school. Attendance is mandatory in each studio. Students are expected to engage in individual and group critiques.
