This summer students in entering grades 10-12 will search under rocks for crawdads and salamanders, test stream waters for phosphate, nitrogen and dissolved oxygen and learn how those elements interact with living and non-living components of stream systems. At this summer institute, you’ll explore how a fish, an insect and even an old tire influence each other and are affected by one another in a continuum. You’ll explore career possibilities in science and ecology. This one-week, residential program will be perfect for students interested in ecology, biology, and environmental science. They will learn all about how the living and non-living compoents of these systems interact with each other. Students will be taught macroinvertebrate and fish sampling, organism identification, and all about water quality. They can also expect to gain plenty of hands-on experience with the most advanced methods and equipment in the field of aquatic ecology. At the very end of the program, students will present their findings to natural resource professionals and science educators. Clearly, this is a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, learn stream ecology, and explore the career possibilities in science and ecology, This website uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website.
