Founded by Maria Bowen Chapin in 1901, Chapin is an independent day school, grades Kindergarten through 12, dedicated to the intellectual and personal growth of young women. Our mission is to prepare a diverse and talented community of young women to thrive and lead in a global society through a dedication to academic excellence, personal integrity and community responsibility. Our young women are artists, athletes, computer programmers, engineers, musicians and physicists, often at the same time. From Kindergarten to Class 12, they all share a home at 100 East End Avenue, which encourages collaboration and life-long friendships and vibrates with their warmth and energy. That energy also comes from our exceptional faculty. Experts in their field who constantly strive to be even better, Chapin teachers encourage students to become self-directed learners who value the process of learning as much as the end result. Faculty members also work closely with students as advisors, mentors and coaches, nurturing the girls social, emotional and physical well-being.
