The gilded Golden Dome and statue of Mary atop the Main Building proclaim the Notre Dame campus as a place where faith is treasured and diverse traditions shared and respected. There is an intelligibility and a coherence to all reality, discoverable through spirit, mind, and imagination from all 50 states and 100 countries. About 80% of the undergraduates and 18% of advanced students live on campus, and more than 80% are active in service learning and community volunteer activities. There are no social fraternities or sororities at Notre Dame–the residence hall is the focus of social, religious, and intramural athletic activities.
