Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is also known as The University for Creative Careers, as SCAD offers pre-college programs during the summer and throughout the year for high school students of all ages to pursue art and design disciplines while working alongside peers from around the globe.
SCAD offers two engaging pre-college programs for artistic, creative high school teens: SCAD Summer Seminars and SCAD Rising Star

- Social and cultural activities create an authentic experience of life as a student at SCAD
When? Sessions are offered in June and July at both the SCAD Savannah location and the Atlanta location.
SCAD Rising Star (for credit)
- Challenging five-week program awards college credit to rising high school seniors
- Students enroll in two college-level classes and have the opportunity to build or enhance their portfolios
- SCAD Rising Star participants utilize university spaces — from classrooms and computer labs to studios and production suites
- SCAD libraries, galleries, and other resources are also available
- Students participating in the residential program live in a SCAD residence hall
SCAD Savannah and SCAD Atlanta offer different courses, so students should check the course offerings to determine which location would be best.
