Participants in the Emory Pre-College Program (PCP) can enroll in six-week credit-based or two-week noncredit courses that are available in person or online. Courses necessitate a weekly time commitment of about 15-20 hours, and online courses demand both synchronous and asynchronous tasks. On a yearly basis, about 400 students are admitted into Emory’s PCP, with 90% enrolling in two-week on-campus courses.
While the PCP provides courses from a variety of fields, there are over ten science-specific courses.
Additional courses concentrate on a specific aspect of biology, chemistry, or physics.
For example, a course called Curiosities of Neurology and Neuroscience helps students in investigating clinical situations that disclose some element of harm to the human brain. Students will investigate unusual diseases and abilities such as synesthesia, savant syndrome, and photographic memory. Students will explore how biotechnology breakthroughs are utilized to treat specific genetic problems in a course called Genetics and Biotechnology.
Emory Summer College students may enroll in a choice of six-week undergraduate courses for credit alongside Emory undergraduates. Each of the following courses will earn students three, four, or five hours of college credit.
A note about college credit: Six-week Summer College students must meet the same academic and attendance criteria as Emory undergraduates. This is the start of your college academic record, which includes a permanent college GPA and transcript. This transcript must be supplied when you apply to colleges.
