Beaver Works Summer Institute 2026

MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute is a rigorous, world-class STEM program for talented rising seniors. The four-week program teaches STEM skills through project-based, workshop-style courses. This year, we are offering 12 different courses, all virtual, with focus that ranges from autonomous vehicles to engineering satellites and Quantum SW. MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute is a rigorous, world-class STEM program for talented and passionate high school students. The four-week summer program by MIT teaches STEM skills through project-based, workshop-style courses. There will 12 different courses with focus that ranges from AI-related projects like creating autonomous model cars, UAVs or cognitive assistants, to data science courses in health/medicine or remote sensing for disaster response, and engineering courses building small satellite prototypes. Each course brings a unique motivation to learn to skills taught as part of the program. Students are transformed by the experience and chance to learn the skills in these technologies. Students select one course to focus on for the duration of the program, getting a transformational experience with the hands-on approach to solving problems and building solutions with the skills they are learning. The program ends with competitions and workshops where the teams of students show off what they’ve built and learned with demonstrations, races, and showcases that take over whole buildings on the MIT campus. There is an online component that requires a teacher nomination for students to access that provides the prerequisites for success in the program at MIT, and access is free. The program is free to day (local) students, residential students may be charged a housing fee to offset the non-education cost of providing room and board at MIT.
