Design Discovery at Mississippi State University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Design is a seven-day summer workshop for high school students intended to answer many of the questions about architecture and design as fields of study and as professions.
Admission into Design Discovery is accessible to high-school-age students (16 and above) and incoming college freshman who are interested in the subject of architecture and/or other relevant design fields. Older kids are also welcomed to attend, but they must contact the school first for particular instructions and preparations. There is no need for school transcripts or letters of recommendation.
Prospective students and individuals thinking about a future in architecture have found Design Discovery useful in validating their choice of architecture as a profession and easing the transition into the first-year architecture studio. During the week, the devoted faculty members and high-caliber students who act as counselors and instructors give information, experience, and friendships that will be useful for joining the architectural field.
