Youre hungry for new challenges and ready to push the edges of your comfort zone. On this course, rock climbing will be your challenge, whether youre a beginner or starting with years of experience. Head to Arizonas Cochise Stronghold, an area renowned for its climbing and unique desert environment. Youll start with the basics of climbing, including movement on rock and getting to know the equipment. As you gain competence, youll progress to more advanced skills like gear placement, multi-pitch climbing, and vertical rescue. After hard days of climbing, youll enjoy meeting up at your groups base camp to cook dinner, share stories from the day, and absorb the quiet of the desert. This area is also rich in local ecology and human history for you to explore. Youll see desert wildlife in its natural environment and visit historic sites that may contain artifacts and pictographs. In addition to climbing skills, youll also focus on growing as a leader. Setting climbing goals becomes a lesson in self-leadership, while living in a small community becomes your opportunity to work on skills like communication. On other days, you may focus on assessing risk and developing judgment to make decisions. From these experiences, youll develop your own leadership style.
