The Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State is offering an exciting opportunity for your high school students to participate in a weeklong summer camp this July! Students interested in social media and content creation will have full access to state-of-the-art media center to focus of using social media to build a personal creator presence online and further a new business. Social media platforms revolutionized the way we communicate and created environments for new businesses to emerge. Opportunities abound for the curious, driven and creative in these digital times of TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. This camp features the dual focus of using social media to build a personal creator presence online and further a new business. Campers will learn how to think about social media strategically for their own benefit and unlock digital solutions to help real clients. Theyll learn from instructors who launched their own business and content projects, and regularly break down the basics as educators. Campers will be guided through finding an idea and platform for their own content channel, building a brand in the process. Additionally, theyll be joined with early-stage entrepreneurs supported by Penn State. The students will research and recommend solutions to these start-ups at Happy Valley LaunchBox, tapping into social medias potential for reach and results. Students will learn basics in photography, video and graphic design; understand the role data plays in digital strategy; and develop entrepreneurial thinking as engaged scholars. This camp introduces students to the practical, professional side of social media. By the end, campers will recognize the opportunities and meet the challenges posed by social media theyll be ready to flourish in this new age.
