Quinnipiac University Summer Pre College Sports Journalism 2026

Come explore the industry of sports journalism. Sports journalism professionals lead this program with the focus of helping students get hands-on experience as sports journalists while developing an understanding of potential career opportunities. You will collaborate with other high school students to develop your own stories by writing, recording, editing and producing sports-related journalism. Calling all future ESPN anchors, sports writers, color commentators and sideline reporters! This summer, Quinnipiac is offering the perfect summer program for aspiring journalists, broadcasters or media production professionals with a passion for sports. High school students will have the opportunity to learn directly from Quinnipiac professors and sports journalism professionals as they spend a full week getting hands-on experience learning how to write and produce their own stories, host press conferences and interview professional athletes. Students will learn the fundamentals of sports journalism and journalistic writing while using our state-of-the-art media production studio to record, edit and produce work at a professional level. Participants will also meet a variety of sports journalism professionals (including special guest speakers) who can offer insight into career possibilities in the industry. At the end of this program, youll walk away with: An understanding of the sports journalism field and its career opportunities by learning directly from a range of professionals working in the industry today Broadcasting and journalism skills including journalist writing, interviewing, sports photography/videography, and production techniques Hands-on experience learning how to conduct interviews 2023 Dates: July 10 – July 14 Program Costs Option 1: 1-week program, plus full room & board (overnight) and activities Sunday-Saturday: $1,680 Option 2: 1-week program, Monday-Friday, on-campus program, 9 a.m.4 p.m. (commuter), lunch included: $1,200 Both options include: One week of faculty-designed programming administered online or on-campus with educational support staff and program materials All equipment, technology and software support Quinnipiac T-shirt Certificate of completion with personal assessment from a Quininpiac professor Special Quinnipiac admissions events Partial financial support may be available for those who indicate the need for financial assistance in their online application.
