Reading Partners’ mission is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. We are currently accepting volunteers in the SF Bay Area for in-person tutoring. Reading Partners is a nonprofit organization that provides literacy intervention programs at elementary schools in low-income communities. At each school, our program transforms a classroom into a Reading Center, and recruits community volunteers from all walks of life to serve as one-on-one tutors for struggling student readers. More than simply reading with a child, our volunteers follow a proven, structured curriculum to help students learn specific skills necessary to become proficient readers. It’s simple, and it works. Each lesson comes with step-by-step instructions and materials. A trained site coordinator is always available to answer questions, assist with the materials, and solve problems. Tutor a student once per week. No experience required. All tutoring materials, lessons, and training will be provided by Reading Partners.
