SAIC’s (School of the Art Institute of Chicago) Early College Program Summer Institute (ECPSI) offers high school students (ages 15 – 18) an opportunity to explore their passion for art at a historically significant accredited independent school of art and design, in the heart of Chicago, while earning college credit.
The ECPSI at SAIC allows students to discover diverse medium, understand how contemporary artists and designers work, and receive portfolio feedback from acclaimed arts instructors and talented peers. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to meet with the SAIC admissions counselors for one-on-one advice regarding constructing a successful and unique portfolio to assist in their future admissions application.
SAIC is also set apart as our instructors are teaching artists, designers, writers, and scholars, not solely professional educators.
Students are encouraged to reside on campus in Jones Hall to partake in the full experience (including access to classrooms, studios, peers, and residence life activities).
ECPSI students also have free access to the SAIC museum collection, which includes ~300,000 pieces of significant art. However, exploring the museum isn’t all students will get to do! The faculty will help students get acquainted with Chicago’s city architecture, public art, galleries, and more, as students will interact with nature, the locals, and the Chicago culture.
