To provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, demonstrate courage, experience joy. Volunteers include students, business people, family members of athletes, corporate teams, civic groups, and many others. These individuals and groups fill a wide variety of roles within Special Olympics Massachusetts through coaching, as members of event planning committees, by fundraising, as timekeepers, officials, and special events volunteers, at local, regional, and state-wide events. Special Olympics Massachusetts volunteers are generous, impactful people who are building sustainable communities of acceptance and inclusion. Through the action of each volunteer, more athletes are training, competing, and experiencing the joy of high quality sports.
