Special Olympics Pennsylvanias Philadelphia program mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics PA Philadelphia. We could not exist without the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. The time, energy, and enthusiasm of volunteers fuel our movement and make our athletes dreams a reality. There is a place for everyone in our organization. All of our volunteers have one thing in common a sense of personal pride knowing they are changing the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. As a volunteer, you can expect to get much more than you give as our athletes will make a positive impact on your life.
