The Stanford Medical Youth Science Program is a five-week immersive enrichment program designed for science and medicine. It targets low-income, first-generation high school juniors residing in Northern California. The program, scheduled for June 24 to July 26, 2024, on Stanford’s campus, aims to expose these students to health science and medicine. Notably, SMYSP is a tuition-free program, relying on donations to increase opportunity and access for aspiring first-generation college students. The 2024 program plans to invite 24 students for an immersive, on-campus experience.
Participants benefit from mentorship by medical professionals, faculty, and college students passionate about science. The program not only focuses on academic learning but also on mentoring and empowering students to start their journey towards college and medical careers. It builds a cohort of passionate peers, envisioned to become the next generation of health leaders.
