Learn Spanish in one of the most beautiful countries in the world – Costa Rica! Explore the cloud forests and tropical coastlines of this Central American country while immersing yourself in the Spanish language. Arcos Journeys Abroad provides quality academic support and assistance during your study abroad. Costa Rica is often referred to as the “Switzerland of the Americas” due to its natural beauty and political stability. It is among a minority of countries in the world that have no standing army. Students in this summer study abroad program will discover a country of friendly people and breathtaking landscapes. Costa Rica is roughly the size of West Virginia, yet it holds 5 percent of the world’s biodiversity. The mountainous landscape is speckled with volcanoes, cascading waterfalls, and flowing rivers. Students in Costa Rica will have endless opportunities to practice and learn Spanish. It is considered one of the best places in the world to study Spanish due to the clear and enjoyable accent of its inhabitants. High school students in Arcos Journeys Abroad’s summer programs in Costa Rica will study the Spanish language at the ATESA Spanish Institute, located in Atenas of central Costa Rica. The summer program is a homestay experience in which high school students will take Spanish classes in the mornings (from 9 to 12) to improve their Spanish skills. Classes are usually 5 students to a teacher. Facilities include both indoor and outdoor classrooms. The weekends and afternoons are reserved for an abundance of cultural activities, excursions/travel, and volunteer/community service work. Cultural activities include hiking, a latin dance class, market day, museum visits, a cooking class, a coffee tour, and a visit to a wildlife rescue enter. Students will also travel to the Pacific, visit Arenal Volcano and hot springs, visit La Fortuna Waterfall, travel to San Jose, and go ziplining! All summer programs include tuition, full room & board with host family, excursions, cultural activities, 24/7 onsite directors support, international medical insurance & much more!
