The Metal Smithery – After School Program

The Metal Smithery is the only metal arts school in the region of Ithaca and one of only a small handful in all of New York, offering both after-school courses and summer camps.

The Metal Smithery, established in 2007, is a metal arts school, one of the only in the region of Ithaca, and one of very few in New York. Through a variety of jewelry-making and metal work specific classes, students will learn how to hammer, form, shape, and so much more to metal arts.

Students are provided tools and instructions on various equipment and methods while they are working towards creating their project, like mini swords.

The after school program is broken up into two groups based on ages:

On Monday and Wednesday, 6th to 8th grade students meet
On Tuesday and Thursday, 9th to 12th grade students meet

While the program is residential (in-person) after school, the summer programs open up the field of metal work to those not available for the in-person afterschool courses.
