Trinity Valley’s mission of fine scholarship with its fulfillment in college, in the development of wide constructive interests, in intelligent citizenship, and in spiritual and moral development that promotes lasting values, will forever guide us. There are many types of intelligences: linguistic, spatial, musical, kinesthetic, naturalist, manipulative, interpersonal, and others. Timeless education does not focus on just one or two to the neglect of the others. Furthermore, how a student learns may be more important than what a student learns. Henry David Thoreau, when asked about the impact of a formal education, replied, “What does education often do? It makes a straight-cut ditch of a free, meandering brook.” Timeless education should not only leave some brooks free to meander, it should expand the streams of thought by which students understand, examine, and solve problems that they have never encountered before. In essence, students become skilled at what is fundamental knowledge, in order to create what can be. Education is timeless when students reach their full potential through its blend of training and creative learning, when the glide path of thoughtful educational experience results in imaginative inventors, authors, physicians, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs innovative leaders of all kinds. Timeless education inspires life-long learners who possess the ability to respond effectively to a rapidly changing world.
