UC San Diego’s Division of Extended Studies offer a vast array of online (and some in-person, on campus) resources and courses for both high school teens and college students, spanning the gamut of department disciplines. That said, UC SD is also unique in that they offer innovative and sophisticated intensive Test Prep courses designed for students who need to accelerate their study time and optimize their testing to ensure they get the best scores, as efficiently as possible.
The SAT and ACT online intensive test prep courses feature 16 hours of instruction from field-experienced instructors, along with two full-length practice tests with official post-test analysis, and small class experiences.
UC San Diego wants to equip qualified, motivated students to hit a home-run with their application to whichever UC (or other) university they choose, so they’ve developed a program that helps students craft the optimal personal essay. The program teaches students to analyze the essay topic prompts (for the UC Personal Insight questions and the Common App essay prompts), how to brainstorm and outline a cohesive, impressive, unique piece, and how to best tailor the essay questions for the admissions officer reviewing them. Students develop skills that far surpass and transcend the college essay writing process, as they learn to audit their thoughts, edit their own words, and perform at a high enough level of written communication to excel in college and university papers, as well.
UC SD’s test prep course also helps students prepare for the ASVAB exam, which measures an individual’s potential to learn a specific career option.
