With UNCW’s MarineQuest university-based summer academic enrichment programs, you can explore beautiful coastal habitats while learning about the amazing world of modern marine science.
Extend your knowledge of marine biology, chemistry, geology, physics, engineering, and biotechnology by conducting field-based scientific investigations at the marsh, beach, fouling docks, and/or on a research vessel.
Participate in laboratory and field-based research, as well as a variety of water sports to enhance your learning, such as fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, boogie boarding, and/or scuba diving, to begin developing the skills and tools you will need to become a modern marine scientist. To give back to the marine environment, all campers will participate in a coastal community service project. Previous projects have included the removal of marine debris, the construction of a living seashore, and the monitoring of plankton.
MarineQuest has been the official marine science outreach program for the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Watson College of Education, and the Center for Marine Science for over 40 years, providing opportunities for young people to explore, discover, and value our marine habitats. Whether you visit MarineQuest as a summer camper exploring the ocean or as a student on a school field trip discovering the marsh, the result is the same: MarineQuest is more than just a day at the beach; MarineQuest is making waves in environmental education!
