Write The World Poetry And Spoken Word Writing Camp 2026

Are you inspired by poets like Amanda Gorman, Ross Gay, Eve Ewing, or other celebrated poets from your corner of the world? Have you ever wondered how you, too, might use your words to create inspiration or spark change? Have you watched spoken word performances on YouTube and wondered how to begin? Write the Worlds Poetry and Spoken Word camp is designed for writers of all levels to try their hand at poetry in the space of a supportive community. Together, we will read, watch, and listen to powerful poems; explore a variety of forms, from found poetry to free verse and ekphrastic; learn together about techniques that can enhance our message, from enjambment to alliteration; and, most importantly, consider how poetry can help us share our voices and visions with the world. At the end of camp, participants will walk away with an original body of work as well as a deepened understanding of poetry honed through thoughtful peer review and instructor feedback. Curriculum Summary : Participants of all skill levels will walk away with 9+ draft poems across genres (e.g. social justice, environmental, spoken word, ekphrastic, found/erasure, and more), as well as one finalized poem in the genre of participants choosing. Writers will receive and provide peer review from/for fellow campers and will benefit from individualized feedback from their instructors. During workshop sessions, youll engage in interactive writing activities, connect with peers around the world, and work together to grow your poetry skills. Between workshop sessions, you may be asked to work independently (and asynchronously) on writing prompts and activities, guided by peer and expert reviews, at your own pace, for approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your facilitators workshop plan. You will also receive individualized feedback that will strengthen your poetry.
