Y Achiever is a program designed to provide critical support that low income and first generation college-bound students need to complete post-secondary education. The Achievers programs serves 300 high school students from Boston and the surrounding communities, targeting 7th-12th grade students with aspirations to attend college. The program uses an evidence-based curriculum, based on five pillars: Academics, College Knowledge, Positive Relationships, Life Skills, and Positive Identity. Y ACHIEVERS is a national program that helps youth in seventh through twelfth grade discover and pursue higher educational and career goals by equipping them with the skills needed to succeed and be community role models. Young people will participate in workforce readiness, college readiness and life skills sessions to support their pathway to success through bi-weekly programming by grade level. Youth will be introduced to various careers in the arts, government and health and get a sneak peek at college life through field trips, speakers, workshops and activities on the campuses of area Colleges and Universities.  Through each session, students will gain knowledge that will help them shape their own career paths and college aspirations.  Students will develop leadership and networking skills through fun, interactive and hands on activities.  Students can participate in one week or two weeks sessions, choosing one or all to attend. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Expose youth to career and college knowledge through the lens of professionals who look like them. We believe that children cannot aspire to be what they cannot see.Help youth develop individual talents, a positive sense of self, and leadership ability.Motivate participants to raise academic performance, succeed in school, and gain marketable skills.
