DSU is a regional institution whose primary role is to contribute to the intellectual, social, economic & cultural development of its students. Its mission is to provide high-quality, accessible programs, to promote excellence in teaching & learning, and to support scholarly & creative activities. Dickinson State University (DSU), strategically located near stunning natural areas and in the midst of the booming energy industry, is a training ground for leaders and professionals in more than 75 fields of study in 10 academic areas. DSUs innovative Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program prepares students for service-learning opportunities through challenging coursework, interactive team-building and research-based projects. A premiere location, low tuition cost, small class sizes, unique leadership opportunities, and a strong community feel are key qualities of DSU. Established in 1918, this four-year public university has a student body of approximately 1,500 and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCAHLC); Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC), National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP); the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). There are more than 50 student clubs and organizations. DSU also offers 21 degrees and one certificate, with six of the degree programs online in Bismarck. Five faculty members with support from the DSU main campus in Dickinson and adjunct faculty provide classes to nontraditional students in the daytime, evening and online in small classroom settings. With the universitys close proximity to the energy industry, nearly 100 percent of graduates find employment upon graduation.
