Drury offers bright, achieving students a commitment to diversity and personalized education with a focus on engagement and integration. The university effectively links liberal arts and sciences to the study of professional areas, with more than 70 majors and academic programs available In 2013, Drury celebrated the 140th anniversary of its founding. Tied to the historical significance of Missouri and located as an integral member of Springfield’s Historic Midtown District, Drury was modeled after the notable liberal arts universities of the East Coast. Drury is committed to the liberal arts tradition and to personalized education that integrates theoretical and practical knowledge in the context of the 21st century. Thus, you will have opportunities to choose majors such as architecture, business, education, communications, behavioral sciences, and the traditional arts and humanities. The Drury faculty are committed to your success. Small classes, personalized education, and shared excitement for your learning are common themes. Furthermore, a comment I have heard several times recently is that Drury faculty members are eager to embrace new technology and learning platforms to improve academic success. Drury is a proud member of the New American Colleges and Universities (NACU), a consortium of twenty-one universities in the United States who have shared commitments to engaged learning; drawing upon our expertise and experience, our faculty are incorporating best practices into teaching, research and service. Drury’s academic offerings span the gamut: from liberal arts, professional and pre-professional to graduate programs; where available, these academic offerings are nationally accredited. The breadth of these degrees and the platforms that complement and enhance learning include community-focused engaged learning, service learning, undergraduate research opportunities and study abroad venues (the majority of Drury’s traditional undergraduates choose to study abroad). We are very pleased that employers and graduate schools have eagerly embraced Drury alumni, evidenced by the enviable placement rate of our graduates and their excellent acceptance rate into graduate and professional schools. With 11 locations (and growing!) in Missouri, offerings for students extend beyond the traditional classroom and include online courses tailored to accelerated learning styles (eight-week formats). The latter, offered largely through the College of Continuing Professional Studies, are tailored to the lifestyle and learning demands of non-traditional students. Drury’s commitment to higher education speaks to the breadth of 21st century audiences while remaining grounded in its mission of integrated learning.
