Howard Payne is a university for those who want a hands-on, practical learning experience. At HPU we invest in one anothers success and growth through teaching, learning and service. HPUs heritage and mission focus on developing leaders who view themselves as servants. Campus organizations such as the Student Government Association emphasize the importance of leadership development. Service organizations encourage students to extend beyond their comfort zone to meet the needs of others. Students are encouraged to be involved in other leadership opportunities such as music and theater presentations and non-scholarship athletics. S.W.A.R.M. Day (Serving With A Right Motive) provides opportunities for students to volunteer for community service projects. HPU also recognizes two outstanding student leaders each spring with its Nat Tracy Servant Leadership Award.
