KD Studio Actors Conservatory was founded in 1979 as the entertainment business began venturing outside New York and Hollywood. Since then, Dallas/Ft Worth has become the eighth largest media market in the country. KD Conservatory a Subsidiary of KD Studio, Inc.’s Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Acting Performance is a 15-month program designed to meet the needs of students who wish to become professional actors. The goal of the College is to provide the finest training available, with a strong educational background to prepare the student actor for a career in the competitive business of television, film, and stage performance. What sets KD Studios acting classes and acting program is our faculty – experienced, working professionals who know the business from the inside out. For over 30 years, KD Studios acting classes & acting programs have been helping artists hone their craft so that they can succeed in the entertainment industry. KD Studio has become one of the country’s most successful training grounds for professionals in acting, musical theatre, and movie production. First Semester – 15 weeks The first semester curriculum focuses on exploring the practical and theoretical use of the body and mind as instruments for performance through intense movement, voice, and acting classes. Using monologue materials, students begin making emotional connections to the character being portrayed. Skills developed will be applied to commercial copy as students are introduced to camera technique. Introduction to Acting Introduction to Voice Movement I Camera Technique I Creative Process Forms of Literature Second Semester – 15 weeks The second semester curriculum is geared toward further developing strong emotional connections to characters through scene study. Movement and vocal production course work are enhanced by the study of script analysis as students begin working, listening to, and reacting with a scene partner, both on stage and on camera. At the conclusion of the second semester, an evaluation will be made to determine the potential for success of each student. If, in the opinion of the Director and the faculty, that potential is lacking, a student will be advised to discontinue the program. Acting II Vocal Interpretation Body Language Camera Technique II Human Biology Script Analysis Fundamentals of Public Speaking Third Semester – 15 weeks In the third semester students work on strengthening their listening and reacting skills, as well as identifying and developing the sub-text of a script. Stage combat, mime, and speech and phonetics challenge students to use their bodies and voices to bring the written text alive. Acting before the camera is further explored as students work on more specific techniques for film and television. Acting Speech and Phonetics Movement III Camera Technique III Shakespeare Social Psychology Fourth Semester – 15 weeks During the fourth semester, the curriculum concentrates on refining the skills students have acquired during the previous semesters while expanding their knowledge of the professional world. Through the audition technique, musical theatre classes, and in extensive preparation for their final showcase, students take an active role in identifying and developing appropriate audition materials, as well as creating the marketing tools and skills that will prepare them for life as a working actor.
