There are over 2,600 students enrolled at MTC in over 60 programs, certifications, and majors in Business, Information, Engineering, Nursing, Medical Sciences, Public Service, Radiography, and Physical & Occupational Therapist Assisting Technologies. Marion Technical College was founded in 1970 with one priority: to improve employment opportunities for area residents through quality education at the local level. Classes began in 1971 with 187 students in four technical programs. Since then, more than 30,000 students have attended MTC, and around 6,000 have graduated with an associate degree. MTC awards the Associate of Applied Business, Associate of Applied Science, and Associate of Technical Studies degrees in Business, Engineering, Health, Information, and Public Service technologies. In addition, one-year or short-term certificate programs are available in the technology areas. Marion Technical College is located on a 180-acre campus just east of the city of Marion on State Route 95, sharing five buildings with The Ohio State University at Marion [OSUM]. The Campus includes the Technical Education Center, Health Technologies Building, Morrill Hall, Alber Student Center, Library/Classroom Building, and Maynard Hall. In addition, MTC’s Center for Workforce Development and Engineering Technologies division are housed in a building adjacent to Campus. MTC sponsors various clubs and organizations, intramural athletics, unique Outdoor Pursuits programs, recreational and common areas, a gymnasium, aerobics and weight room facilities, meeting rooms, and lounge areas. MTC students are also eligible to participate in Marion Campus athletic programs, such as women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, and golf.
