Southeastern Illinois College enhances lifelong learning by providing quality accessible educational programs, cultural enrichment opportunities, and support for economic development. Founded in 1960, Southeastern Illinois College is a public, two-year comprehensive community college located on a 190-acre campus in Harrisburg, Illinois. Southeastern grants six associate degrees and a wide variety of occupational certificates. The Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics, and Associate in Engineering Science degrees are designed for students who wish to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college or university. The Associate in Applied Science degrees and occupational certificates are designed for students who wish to upgrade job skills and seek immediate employment upon program completion. The Associate in Liberal Studies degree program is an interdisciplinary, non-traditional program that is characterized by student flexibility and creativity. The program is designed to provide a college level educational opportunity for those who wish to complete an individualized general program, but do not wish to pursue a special occupational or baccalaureate-oriented program resulting in an AAS, AS, or AA degree. Southeastern also participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative, a statewide agreement that allows transfer of the completed Illinois General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions. Completion of the General Education Core Curriculum at any participating college or university in Illinois assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an associate or bachelor’s degree have been satisfied. Southeastern serves college District #533 that includes Gallatin, Hardin, Pope and Saline Counties; and portions of Hamilton, Johnson, Williamson and White Counties. In-district residents pay $2,850 in tuition and fees per academic year.
