#1 – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
As a renowned institution for STEM studies, MIT provides students with the opportunity to learn from world’s leading scientific minds, including eleven Nobel laureates in the faculty of MIT’s School of Science. MIT’s most popular engineering degrees are in mechanical engineering, but their computer and math science are also excellent options. Scholars who decide to study in a program that is non-STEM must take some STEM coursework, including two semesters each of calculus, and physics. MIT students also must take one semester each of biology and chemistry.

In the computing program, students can follow a customizable curriculum called “Threads,” which combines foundational courses in computer science with realistic pathways of their choice. UC Berkeley offers more than a hundred degrees in various subjects, including anthropology and urban studies.
